The Tropistar is one of Valstar’s varieties, which has been produced in-house and can be traced to the Calathea Wavestar. The leaves of the Tropistar have the same wavelike edges. Their undersides, however, are a fresh green and not purple. Calatheas are named after the Greek word for basket. The flowers are arranged together resembling a basket. In contrast with most of the plants from the Calathea family, the Tropistar does flower. The yellow flowers grow at the bottom of the plant.
